Reading habits have changed a lots from past years. Nowadays, we can read using different digital devices that make simpler the access to reading. Reading using a screen is the norm instead of printed editions, although there are many supporters who prefer the feeling and touching of the pages.

The type of texts that people read today are online newspapers and text messages in the smartphones. Apart from these, I believe people read novels and stories about futuristic worlds and history. People usually choose themselves the books they are going to read but it is also important to have word-of-mouth recommendations from other people.

Looking at the photos, the people reading might feel engaged and relaxed. If they are deeply immersed in a book, they could be feeling curious, excited, or even emotional, depending on the content. Reading can also be a way to escape reality, reduce stress, or gain knowledge, which might make them feel calm and focused.

In my L1 (Spanish), I enjoy reading novels, historical fiction, and essays, as I feel more comfortable with complex vocabulary and cultural references. In my L2 (English), I tend to read shorter texts, articles, and academic papers, since I sometimes need to look up words or reread sections for better comprehension.

I don’t always choose the same kind of texts in each language. In Spanish, I enjoy longer and more descriptive literature, while in English, I prefer concise and informative texts. The choice depends on my language proficiency, the purpose of reading, and the effort required to understand the text.

As for the format, I enjoy reading both on paper and digitally. For novels, I prefer physical books, but for articles and research, I use e-readers or online platforms because they are more convenient and allow me to search for definitions quickly.

I usually read at night before going to bed, as it helps me relax. However, I also read during commutes or in free moments throughout the day.
